SAFETY DIRECTOR
Job Summary:
Commercial Express HVAC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Director to oversee and implement all aspects of our safety program. The Safety Director will ensure that our HVAC operations comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, and will work proactively to foster a safe working environment for all employees. This individual will collaborate with leadership, field teams, and subcontractors to promote safety culture, minimize risks, and prevent workplace accidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s safety program to meet OSHA standards and best practices.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections of job sites, offices, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Lead the investigation of accidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Provide regular safety training sessions for employees at all levels, including safety orientations, job site-specific training, and emergency response drills.
- Maintain all safety records, including training logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor safety performance through tracking key performance indicators and suggest improvements when necessary.
- Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and field supervisors to ensure that safety procedures are followed on every job site.
- Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal safety regulations and adjust company policies as needed to remain compliant.
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and insurance companies regarding safety-related matters.
- Provide support in the preparation of safety-related documentation for projects, tenders, and audits.
- Foster a culture of safety across the organization through proactive communication and leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar safety certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within the construction, HVAC, or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, HVAC systems, and general safety protocols.
- Proven ability to assess risks, develop safety strategies, and effectively communicate safety practices.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence change and engage employees in safety programs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites and HVAC work areas.
