Construction Project Manager, Energy Infrastructure
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Manage the planning and execution of our new battery material facility construction projects
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for a Project Manager for our Capital Projects team to drive the planning and management of new battery material manufacturing facility projects. Your initial fast-paced project will drive the detailed design and build phases of our next-generation anode material factory in Washington state. In this role, you will coordinate all our internal departments while balancing rigorous scope, schedule, and budget management with quick decision-making, and be comfortable with ambiguity. You’ll hold internal teams accountable and support the management of external engineering and construction partners to drive execution, tracking, and reporting to meet our large-scale capital project objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Track key phases of large capital projects including: project planning, front-end and detailed design, construction, startup, and closeout
- Own overall project budget and schedule. With the Project Controls team, prepare and report weekly updates on progress, budget, schedule, and risks.
- Serve as the single-point coordinator across all teams and stakeholders on the project
- Support relationship management with engineering partners, contractors, and other external parties; provide clear direction on priorities, schedule, and project coordination to ensure deadlines are met
- Manage change order requests, approvals, documentation, and record-keeping
- Build out and launch new project management processes and tools, using past experience and industry best practices
- May directly manage others working on the project
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years experience in project or program management, including greenfield construction projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in a planning, science, engineering, or construction management discipline
- Skilled in strategic planning, budget management, schedule management, change management, risk management, and driving project execution
- Ensure deliverables are resourced appropriately and re-assign or re-prioritize as needed
- Strong track record of managing contractors to baseline schedules and budgets
- Proven communication and meeting-management skills, across external and internal teams
- Ability to anticipate potential issues and make high-pressure decisions within ambiguity
- Extensive Primavera P6 (or equivalent) experience required
- PMP certification required
- Travel to build sites and contractors’ offices for design and construction support
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and safety shoes
- Occasionally kneel or bend
- Up to 25% travel (potential for higher during critical construction and start-up activities) to and from build sites and contractors’ design offices
